Hatching Duck eggs Unpack and allow
shipped eggs to rest at least 24 hours before they are placed in
an incubator. Duck eggs should be placed on their sides and hand
turned 4 times a day. Unless the room with the incubator has low
humidity put very little water in the incubator. Candling the eggs
once a week and watching the size of the air cell is the best way
to make sure the eggs lose enough moisture to have an air cell 1/3
of the egg by the 24th day. If you have 50% humidity
in the incubator room do not add water to the incubator. Stop turning
eggs on the 24th day. Keep the incubator closed for 12
hours after the first duckling hatches. Remove the ducklings that
have dry down to a brooder and wait 24 hours for the rest to hatch.
Calls usually hatch in 27 days and Pekins etc. in 28 days.
